FAQs
How do I start the wood-fired sauna?
1
To start, open the firebox, place dry kindling and firewood inside, light the kindling, then close the firebox door once the fire takes hold. Follow any manufacturer-specific lighting instructions for your model.
How do I get started?
2
A wood-fired sauna typically takes 30–60 minutes to reach an ideal temperature (70–100 °C), depending on outside weather, insulation, and wood quality.
How much wood will I need?
3
A few bundles for initial heat up and intermittent refueling during your session is common.
What should I bring / wear?
4
Swimwear (without metal fastenings)
A towel to sit on
Water bottle to stay hydrated
What’s the right session length?
5
Start with 3–5 minutes in the heat if you’re new to sauna bathing; more experienced users may stay up to 15 minutes per round. Always listen to your body - leave if you feel dizzy or uncomfortable
Can I pour water on the rocks?
6
Yes - gently pour a small ladle of water onto hot stones. Avoid adding oils or fragrances unless they are explicitly sauna-safe. Be cautious adding too much water at once as it can create a large burst of steam. Add water slowly and step back briefly to let the steam settle.
Who shouldn’t use the sauna?
7
Individuals with certain health conditions (e.g., cardiovascular issues), or those who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs should avoid sauna use. Always prioritise safety - and if in doubt, get medical advice
What about jewellery, glasses & contacts?
8
Remove metal jewellery, glasses, and contact lenses before entering, as these can heat quickly and cause discomfort or burns.
Is there an age requirement?
9
Many sauna providers recommend adult supervision for younger users. (The minimum age is 18, or 16 with a responsible adult.)
